FoundAnimals Forum on Spay-Neuter, Part 1

Today's a crazy day, so I'm going to keep this short, but I'm still excited about my trip to LA last weekend to attend the FoundAnimals Forum, Spay/Neuter Past, Present, and Future. Full disclosure: FoundAnimals sponsored BlogPaws 2010 West — many of you probably met their Director of Marketing, Andrew Barrett, who also presented — and I was received a complimentary pass to attend (not including my travel expenses).

The photo shows Andrew and me with Amanda Arrington, the Spay-Neuter Initiatives Manager for the Humane Society of the United States, at the reception after the Forum. Amanda presented the results of a two year study in the Gulf Coast region on the most effective ways to communicate the urgency of spay/neuter and the connection to reducing and eventually eliminating the killing of pets in shelters.

A couple of weekends ago I attended (and presented at) the great conference for pet bloggers - BlogPaws West. My co-worker, Chelsea Latimer, attended with me, and we both agree it was an incredible experience. The event was well-planned at a pet-friendly hotel in downtown Denver. I actually felt relaxed throughout the conference - not something you typically feel at business conferences, as I'm sure many of you know.

We're serious about making changes, here at BlogPaws. So much so, we created our focus around giving back - supporting shelters and rescues, and helping our pet blogger friends get nose-to-nose. The conference was so much fun, with so much learning and connecting and networking, that we did not have time to post in our own blog! Doh!

Luckily, twitter was alive with chatter about the conference. And, about the great video the gals in our Be the Change panel put together.

One more piece for the Pet Art Auction

As you saw in the video Yvonne posted from BZTAT's blog, we have an amazing array of art and artists who've contributed their work to the BlogPaws 2010 Pet Art Auction. Proceeds will be divided among the artists and the three pet shelters chosen from attendee nominations.
