If you’re like me, you may not want to admit it, but you have more pictures of your pet on your phone than you do of your children, right? Let’s face it, my pet is with me all day long and can’t drive away from me and my camera the way my children can!
Whether you have an Android or an iPhone, app developers know how much your pets mean to you and they’ve started to cater to the pet-loving market and are developing apps to feed that need.
Over the course of the past two years I have traversed the country from New York to Arizona, by car, with my diva poodle, Henrietta. In addition to using my iPhone for mapping my route I downloaded several apps that helped me with traveling with Henrietta. My favorite app is called Petcentric, this free app provides a database of hotels and restaurants that are pet-friendly. It also provides a list of local veterinarians and other pet-friendly destinations that you can visit along your travel route. While there are many hotels that are pet friendly, some are more so than others and charge lower, or no, fees for your pet to spend the night with you.
Another app that I enjoy is the Pet Notebook; this app lets me store pictures of Henrietta along with her identifying information. I can input her birthday, AKC registration information, medications she may need, her microchip number and registration site. All of the data is easily customizable and can be edited to suit your particular pet’s needs. It also saves you from having to remember to pack your pets latest medical record from the vet to prove when she was last inoculated.
When I’m sitting at a rest stop and just want a bit of a laugh, I log into the Fail Dogs app. This app is for entertainment value only and provides video clips of dogs being “owned” by cats, a dog that simply can’t get the hang of catching a Frisbee and other clips that show dogs not quite living up to their doggie-ness.
What's your favorite pet-centered phone app?
