Why Pinterest is Better than Facebook

Social media has grown to be quite important, and for many, the go-to platform over the last several years has been Facebook. However, progress marches on, and a new competitor has emerged that is incredibly beneficial to bloggers. 

For bloggers, Pinterest, the newest social media platform on the block, is a great social media site, and it might even be better than Facebook. In many ways, it goes back to the core of the social media experience without sacrificing style, allowing bloggers the ability to better share their content.  Ways in which Pinterest is a better platform for bloggers than Facebook include:

Better Presentation 

Pinterest is like a bulletin board. Everything is icon based and users interested in your photos can be immediately taken to your website once they click your picture or "pin" as it is referenced on Pinterest.  Facebook, unfortunately, has left this kind of user-friendliness behind. If you want to see your friends' pages, you likely have to contend with a number of ads.

So whether you are wanting to "pin" an article about giving your dog an all vegetarian diet or on how to compare credit card offers so that you can afford that pet friendly hotel this vacation, there is a good chance that all you will have to do is attach a cute picture of your pup and you will experience additional traffic in no time. Users will easily be able to find the article, and won't have to mine through other data to get to it.

Less Information 

One of the more frustrating aspects of Facebook is that the service seems to be set up to share far more than you might want to share. With some of the new applications on the site, you may well announce to all of your friends and family that you are looking solutions for family credit card debt. 

Pinterest, on the other hand, is much more selective in what is shared and what is not shared. Since you have total control, you can better manage the image that your blog conveys. And in the internet world, image is everything.  One false post and you could destroy your reputation in no time.  Poor posting isn't as easy with Pinterest so bloggers are less likely to make reputation damaging moves. 

Streamlined Usage 

Pinterest is for sharing. That is it. There are no games, no corporate applications, and no distractions on the site. Facebook, while a lovely time-waster, has become somewhat cluttered over recent years and the social aspect has begun to dwindle. If you wish to really put up an image of your pet that others will care about, it is much easier to do so on a dedicated website like Pinterest than a site that attempts to accomplish as much as Facebook. Not only that, but the likelihood of backlinks on Pinterest is incredible compared to that on Facebook because of the streamlined functioning of the site.

If you want to share your pet blog, whether you specialize in affording a pet or pet dietary needs, with a more accessible potential readership, Pinterest might be a better service than Facebook. You will certainly experience less clutter and less competition, and you might even be able to post things that people might enjoy seeing. At the very least, you will be at the vanguard of a new and exciting type of social media, one that truly embraces the social aspect of the process. Whether you want to post a few pictures and posts or really leverage the site, Pinterest can provide a form of access and control that simply cannot be matched elsewhere.
