Thinking of attending a conference? Well, as you know, BlogPaws 2011 is fast approaching, but this is not shameless self promotion of the upcoming event, it's about attending conferences in general.
These past two days I had attended the Lilac City Rochester Writer's conference. The organizers brought in the author of Goal, Motivation & Conflict, Debra Dixon. The book, GMC, has long been on my keeper shelf and it is dog-eared from many years of use and reference. I did pick up another copy at the conference because for the life of me I couldn't find my own copy -- chances are I might have lent it to someone and never gotten it back.
Attending a conference is a way to get away from it all, spend time practicing your craft, networking and meeting new individuals and brainstorming. Whether you're a writer, a reader, or a lover of pets, attending a conference is a great way to kick start your creativity and talk about the things you love -- no matter what they are.
Regardless of what your interests are -- pets, writing, knitting or woodworking -- chances are you can find a conference or a group of people in your area who meet to discuss these topics. I urge you to step out of your comfort zone, get away from the television (which I do when I can get the remote away from Henrietta!) go forth and meet up!
