Those crazy cats (and dogs, ducks, ferrets, rabbits, and more) over at #NipClub held their 80s Rock Pawty on Twitter last night, using the hashtags #nipclub and #okeyspromise. I provide the hashtags so you can confirm, the evidence was clear this morning that SOME pawtiers stayed quite a bit past closing time! You know who you are.
One of the excuses reasons for the festivities was to benefit our blog-buddy Vicki Boatright's (aka the artist known as BZTAT) wonderful project, Okey's Promise: Art for a Cause, and boy did the anipals come through. Vicki reports that during the official hours of the pawty, $790 was added to the Okey's Promise pledges and another $95 came in "after hours," raising the total to $4,098 when the less stallwart of us awakened this morning to check!
BUT WAIT! There's more! Among the items that were donated to provide prizes for the quizes throughout the evening, we'd offered a blogger pass to BlogPaws 2011. Another BlogPaws blog buddy, Amy Palmer, Sebastian the Sensitive Soul's mom, who tweets as @BoSoxAmy, showed how smart she is:
a. she strolled in fashionably late to the pawty,
b. she knew the answer to the final quiz, and
c. she's already bought her BlogPaws 2011 ticket at the Advance Sale price!
And then Amy showed how generous she is by asking us to donate the value of the ticket to Okey's Promise! We were thrilled to do so today, raising the total to $4,217.
But once again, wait, there's more: BZTAT's efforts and all your donations to date are not quite enough. The program requires her to raise $5,000 in pledges for the project to be funded, or all the pledges to date are void. And she only has 5 days left until the January 27 deadline to get the remaining $783 in pledges!
So please, if you're able to help, every dollar counts. If you've already pledged and can afford another dollar or two, the Kickstart tool makes if very easy to edit your pledge amount.
And spread the word on your blogs, Facebook, Twitter, emails ... every way you can think of.
