from guest blogger, Grace Boyle of Lijit
A couple of weekends ago I attended (and presented at) the great conference for pet bloggers - BlogPaws West. My co-worker, Chelsea Latimer, attended with me, and we both agree it was an incredible experience. The event was well-planned at a pet-friendly hotel in downtown Denver. I actually felt relaxed throughout the conference - not something you typically feel at business conferences, as I'm sure many of you know.
The pet blogging community is new to us. We discovered it's a vibrant, exciting, and fun group of people and pets. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of interaction, engagement and interest -- in becoming a better blogger, into giving back to causes, shelter and animal welfare groups, and also the amount of passion that goes into everything these bloggers do.
At my session, showcasing how to monetize your blog and introducing the Lijit search/monetization tool, I was happy to get some great questions! The bloggers seemed pretty excited to learn that we have custom search and advertising opportunities. They were really excited to learn that we do not have a page view cutoff and we're inclusive for publishers wanting to test our advertising (or the long tail, no pun intended!)
I have a lot of pictures on our site (and a few in this post), which I hope you'll visit and view. But, what I wanted to share here is that it was a great experience partly because we got to learn more about what it means to be a pet blogger, and partly because we got to meet some clients we'd never met before (like Laura from Embrace Pet Insurance) and totally because we got to attend the first, ever Petties (pet blogger awards, like the Oscars!).
BlogPaws West was as much a learning experience for us, at Lijit, as it was a conference that we got to share our search and advertising services with. Plus, we got to meet a lot of fantastic pets (including a ferret!)

Now I can put a face with the name in my email. I never did get to meet you and your cute little ferret. I did snag a photo of him and he's in one of my posts. What's the cutie's name?

Hi Carrie! The ferret isn't mine, but his name is Snotface! So cute, right?
It's been great interacting with you Carrie :) Thanks for popping by.
