Today, the resident Queen Kitty at our house, the ever Grumpy Wabby Wibby, all 17 years and "Don't bother me I'm sleeping" attitude (pictured here), is appalled. We might even say, Uber-appalled.
Because there is a ferret in the house.
We have someone new helping out with our office (let's hear three cheers for working at home: Yay! Yay! Yay!), and she has a ferret. The ferret, Snotface (don't ask), was with us at Furry Scurry and truth be told he was the hit of the parade! I'll share video soon.
Anyway, the Wabby has been Queen kitty for most of her life (in the early days there was another kitty who ruled, but he is no longer with us; and as for the dog, who is also no longer with us, she was never a threat to Wabby - cats know how to handle dogs). I've been whispering in her ear that we might get a puppy, or a dog, or both...and we're even considering another kitty...but she just turns her head when I do that.
I can read her mind, "If you bring another cat in here, I'm running away," she's thinking. She doesn't go outdoors so, like any petulant two-year old, she's just making threats.
This morning she begin pacing the office, as if she knew the ferret (who made a visit yesterday - isn't this picture priceless?) was coming back. I was not able to get her reaction on film but trust me when I say she was less than happy to have him here, yesterday, and is totally bummed out that he's back today.
At the moment she's lying in the master bedroom with a sharp eye on the door. We have a gate up - to protect both of them until they make friends, but I sense that the Wabby is going to punish me for...a good bit of time, for bringing this happy-go-lucky, let's play, critter in the house. (Wabby doesn't play - it's beneath her - she's old and she expects Diva treatment because of it)
We'll try to chronicle the saga of Wabby and the Ferret. Stay tuned! To our ferret friends, say hi to Snotface! Want to see more of Snotface? Follow him on twitter: @snotfacecritter

Snotface is too cute. What a great name.

I so adore ferrets! Just smart, curious, and very affectionate pets.
I also love watching them when they're in "ferret trance", deep sleep. It's a neat trick-pick them up by the scruff and they sort of "hibernate" until they're put back down.

The name Snotface comes from the movie Drop Dead Fred, and was very fitting when I got him at 8 weeks old. He loves to play and his curiosity is a treat each day. A great addition to our hodgepodge of characters with BlogPaws :-)
